Leica X2 compact digital camera
May 10 2012
Leica have announced the X2 compact digital camera. Following on from the Leica X1 digital camera, the X2 is equipped with a 16.5 MP, APS-C, CMOS image sensor (effective 16.2 MP), and a fixed 24 mm (35 mm film equivalent) f2.8 lens.
In addition, the X2 now has an accessory port, and this is where the optional Leica X2 EVF2 Viewfinder and X2 Mirror Finder come into play. The X2 EVF2 Viewfinder is a 1.44m dot resolution Epson LCD, and can be rotated 90 degrees for easier operation. The Leica X2 compact digital camera has a list price of $1,995.
Leica claims the autofocus speed on the X2 is “fast, extremely precise and virtually silent“. AF speed is a disappointment on the X1, so it will be interesting to see how the X2 performs in this area; initial impressions reveal AF has been improved so that’s good to hear.
